At 2784 m. Pic du Canigou is the the
highest point in the eastern French Pyrennees. Puig do Canigo is sacred to
many Catalans. A pilgrimage is made there every year at midsummer on St.
John's Day when fires are lit on the peaks of hills and mountains around.
